Coach Higginbothem started his coaching career at Florida A&M, where he was in charge of working with hitters and catchers. Under his tutelage, the Rattlers not only led the MEAC in batting average (.322), runs (416), runs per game (8.0), hits (571), doubles (102), RBI (379), on-base percentage (.425) and slugging (.473), but were also ranked in the top-10 in the country in on-base percentage (2nd), average (5th) and runs per game (7th).
Coach Higginbothem also coached at Florida Gulf Coast University, where he helped the Eagles to the highest school ranking in program history (#9 in the country).
From FGCU, Coach Higg became the recruiting coordinator at Coastal Alabama North Community College for two years before moving to the high school level.
At the high school level, Coach Higginbothem served as the head coach for Morgan City High School in Louisiana and Coach Higg served two years as the hitting coach for Saraland High School.

Coach Jeremy Sewell has been coaching 22 years and this is his 4th year coaching at Baldwin County High School. Coach Sewell has been a head Baseball Coach 14 years of the 21 years of coaching at the high school level. He has also played for a State Baseball Championship in High School (Oxford, AL) and won a State Championship as well in 2012 at Oxford High School.
Anthony Cox, Head Softball Coach Coach Cox is a 1986 graduate of Baldwin County High School where he played baseball, football, and basketball. He received a baseball scholarship to Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee where he played 2nd base. During his senior season in 1990, he was named team MVP and selected to the 1st team All-OVC Softball team and 3rd team All American after leading the Ohio Valley Conference in hitting. Coach Cox started his coaching career as a graduate assistant baseball coach at his alma mater Tennessee State University in 1991 and 1992. At TSU, he was responsible for coaching infielders, recruiting, planning practices, game day operations, and NCAA compliance. Coach Cox started his high school coaching career in June 1998 at Baldwin County High School as an assistant football coach under Ricky Ford and as an assistant baseball coach under Jerry Wright. In July 1999, he was hired by Bob Salter, principal at BCHS, as the Head Softball Coach. Coach Cox led the Lady Tigers Softball Team from 2000-2011. After a two-season break, he returned to lead the Lady Tigers Softball Team in 2014. Coach Cox has coached the Lady Tigers Softball Team for 24 years and the upcoming year will be his 25th season. The Lady Tigers Softball Team has finished six seasons ranked in the top 10 and finished in the 6A Elite 8 State Tournament (2000, 2001, 2002, 2019, 2022, and 2024). His teams have made the playo\s (Sub-Regions, Regionals, and/or State) in the following seasons: 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009. 2011, 2019, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025. Coach Cox has compiled over 544 victories and over 40 of his softball players have signed scholarships (38 in softball, 2 in basketball, and 1 in volleyball). In 2014, Coach Cox was selected to coach the South AllStars in the AHSAA North-South Softball game and in 2019, he was named ASWA 6A Softball Coach of the Year. Coach Cox is a member of the BCHS Athletic Hall of Fame, a member of the AHSAA Softball Committee, a member of the BCHS Athletic Hall of Fame Committee, a member of Zion Fountain AME Zion Church, and a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. He is married to JoAnne Watson Cox, and they have two daughters: Bria and Bailey (both played softball for Coach Cox at BCHS). Amie Byrd, Varsity Assistant Coach
Amie Roberts Byrds is a dedicated educator and former standout athlete whose passion for sports and youth development has shaped her career in physical education and coaching.
A 1999 graduate of Baldwin County High School, Amie excelled both in the classroom and on the field. She was a multi-sport athlete, playing softball from 1995 to 1999 and volleyball in 1995. Her athletic achievements earned her All-County honors and a coveted spot on the South team in the prestigious North-South All-Star Game.
Following high school, Amie received a softball scholarship to Faulkner State Community College, where she played from 1999 to 2001. During her time at Faulkner State, she helped lead the team to the JUCO State Tournament and was honored with an All-Regional Award. She graduated with an Associate Degree from FSCC.
Amie continued her academic and athletic journey at the University of Mobile on a softball scholarship. From 2001 to 2003, she was a key player on the team that became the 2003 NAIA National Championship runner-up. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Human Performance and Exercise Science.
Amie began her teaching and coaching career in 2005 at Baldwin County High School as a PE teacher and weightlifting coach. In 2007, she transitioned to Pine Grove Elementary, where she has served as a PE teacher ever since. She also dedicated eight years as an assistant coach for BCHS Softball, continuing to share her love for the game with new generations of athletes.
Amie is married to Matt Byrd, and together they have two children, Madilyn and Magnum. She remains passionate about fitness, teamwork, and making a positive impact on the lives of her students.
Jamie McGowin, Assistant Varsity & JV Coach
Jamie Roberts accomplished educator and former collegiate athlete with a lifelong passion for sports, fitness, and youth development.
A 1999 graduate of Baldwin County High School, Jamie was a standout multi-sport athlete, playing softball from 1995 to 1999 and volleyball in 1995. Her athletic talent and leadership earned her All-County honors and a place on the South team in the prestigious North-South All-Star Game.
Jamie went on to receive a softball scholarship to Faulkner State Community College, where she played from 1999 to 2001. During her time at FSCC, she played a pivotal role in leading the team to the JUCO State Tournament and was recognized with an All-Regional Award. She earned her Associate Degree from Faulkner State.
Continuing her academic and athletic career, Jamie transferred to the University of Mobile on a softball scholarship. From 2001 to 2003, she was a key contributor to the team that became the NAIA National Championship runner-up in 2003. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Human Performance and Exercise Science.
Since 2005, Jamie has served as a PE teacher at Bay Minette Elementary School, where she inspires and educates young students through physical education. She also spent eight years as an assistant coach for the Baldwin County High School softball team, bringing her experience and enthusiasm back to her alma mater.
Jamie is married to Jake McGowin, and they are proud parents of two daughters, Brooke and Belle. Her commitment to education, athletics, and family continues to impact her community in meaningful ways.
